Matteify Cosmetics Liquid Lipstick Review & Monochromatic MoTD

I  am back with another lip swatch post!

This time around, I’m sharing a liquid lipstick I recently got from an Instagram brand. I discovered Matteify Cosmetics on National Lipstick day (July 29, 2017) when someone shared with me a promotion they were running that day. To celebrate the love of lipstick, Matteify was offering any lipstick they had available in stock for free with a code they shared on Instagram, all you had to do was pay shipping and handling which was $4.99.

Although I had never heard of the brand, I thought ‘why not?’ and decided to check em out. I headed to their site and found that their liquid lipsticks were priced quite reasonably, only $8 per shade! That’s pretty on par with drugstore prices. Their color range looked pretty solid, a lot of the recently trending pinks, mauves, red, and berry tones represented.

In the end  I was stuck between the shades Rosy, Lucy, and B.B. which are pink toned shades.

I went with the shade B.B., maybe because the name made me think of B.B. 8 from the Starwars Rouge One movie lol.

The lipstick comes in a long, rectangular, clear plastic tube. The name is printed on one side in lower case, over all it’s a clean and minimal design.

It took a a little bit to receive this color after I grabbed it during the lipstick day promotion, but when I got it I was excited! I wasn’t sure what to expect, but I can safely say that I was impressed! The formula is on the thinner side rather than whipped. It applied very nice and evenly, I really only needed one coat for full opacity. This Matteify liquid lipstick was able to completely dry down within the minute and dried down to a transfer proof finish. I was surprised with how comfortable it felt on my lips and how well it wore through the day. I did need to reapply towards the end of the day and I found that it listed well with reapplication.

I’m super glad I found out about this brand! In fact, I plan to pick up some additional shades in the near future, after their next restock since I see a handful of the shades I have my eye on are currently sold out.

Have any of you heard of Matteify Cosmetics?

So, most of the time down I do a lip search, I don’t necessarily try to match my makeup to the colors. This could largely be due to the fact that I usually swatch different colors that would just require a neutral makeup look if I were to post a full face picture.

But since this color was so pretty and just, you know, one color lol, I decided to do a monochromatic makeup look! For the eye look I mostly used MUG and ABH singles.

I love monochromatic looks. Maybe its cause I seriously doubt my ability to match colors lol, this is just easy peasy! Let me know how you feel about monochromatic looks. Do you love them? Or do you have amazing color coordination skills that you scoff at people like me? haha

Anyways, that’s all I have for you today. Maybe when I finally pick up more lipsticks I’ll do a follow up post with more swatches! But for now, I’ll sign off here!

  1. Liquid lipsticks rank a lot higher for me if it reapplies on top of itself well — there are some lipsticks that you go to touch up were needed….and it’s flake city and OH-SO goopy! Great to know these ones are good, though!

    • Yes!! I know exactly what you mean! Any liquid lipstick that can layer well over itself wins major points in my book! Glad you found this helpful! 🙂
