Hello, Good Tuesday to you.
I’m posting a tad bit late this week. In all honesty though, I really haven’t been as consistent as I would like to be with my posting schedule, but I figured better late than never. Especially when I think about the fact that I didn’t do my nail post this past Thursday ?
Sorr about that! That’ll go live this week’
Anyways, I know that I did post about this product last week, but I have been LOVING my Kat Von D Alchemist palette. The duo chrome shades in this thing are so lovely and I’ve been pretty much working them into my every day looks (even in the office) almost every day since I got this palette. I’m kind of obsessed.
And while I do like sublty sneaking in these shades, I’ve been dying to kick up the drama and do what I have been craving to do with this palette ever since I got it; an intense lip look!
Fair Warning: silly poses as I get use to photographing my full face for makeup >_>
For this look, I started off using the Alchemist Palette and applied the color Pink Opal and Ultra-Violet Amethyst to my lids. I used a soft application of Black Bird Cosmetic’s Imogen, a beautiful pinked toned matte shadow, in the crease and Wet N Wild Creme Brûlée on the brow bone for a matte highlight. Then I added winged liner to my eyes using Tarte’s Tarteist Clay Paint Liner in black.
Next, I decided to keep the overall face makeup rather simple and just focus on the eyes and lips. To achieve this, I applied Maybelline’s Matte and Poreless foundation and Tarte’s Shapetape Concealer. For blush, I went with Urban Decay in Video, a soft nude blush.
Since last week I played with the colors on their own, I wanted to see the colors of Kat Von D’s palette work their magic over a dark base. Here I used Stila in Chianti, a dark and deep plumy liquid lipstick, for the base of this lip look. Normally, I don’t sport super dark vampy colors like this, but I have to admit, I loved rocking this lip with this overall look. I think since my makeup tends to be very office appropriate during the week, I tend to enjoy experimenting on the weekends, even with looks I may not have been interested in a few years ago. Again, do pardon the silly posing ?
For the next step of evolution for this look, I decided to apply my favorite color in the palette, Ultra-Violet Amethyst. It really only felt natural to layer the purple duo chrome shade over the deep purple lipstick. It’s not overkill, right? The camera caught more of the blue side of the duo chrome and I have to say, I really am digging how its looking.
Side note, I was trying to fix my hoodie while I was doing a burst of photos and ended up with this picture. I felt like the accidental photo added all kinds of unnecessary drama, but was like “yup, lets go with this one, we’re boarderline video game character here” ?
How do you feel about this duo chrome lip? I personally was thrilled with this, but regardless I decided to be extra. Looking in the mirror I thought “why not throw in ALLLLLL the colors on???”
And so that’s what I ended up doing ? I threw on all the shades in random sporadic bursts across my lips.
The end lip feels…galactic to me, lets get awkwardly up close and personal to my face to get a good look lol
If you made it this far, thank you! So sorry for the high number of selfies, but I just had a bit of fun capturing the looks I made with this little guy. Let me know which version of the lip look you thought was best!
As always, thanks for stopping by! Hope you have a great safe day!
