Holiday Red Lip Swatches

Hey All!

How is everyone been? I kinda took a random week off cause I got overwhelmed with things. I recognize that posting 3 times a week is highly ambitious, but I wanna keep trying! I’d love to say that during my week off I worked on great content, but that’d be a lie. I had to get a lot of other things in order first, so pardon me if this week’s makeup post is a bit…meh.

With the holiday season being everywhere I’ve been itching to break out some of my more festive red lip colors and thought I’d share them with you! This edition of festive lip colors will actually just be liquid lipsticks, as that’s what I’ve been obsessing with, but if you’re more into traditional lipsticks, let me know! I have a ton of great holiday red traditional lipsticks that I post about as well!

But for now, lets get started with the liquid lipsticks!

First up we have Stila Stay All Day – Fierya classically bright red shade that is perfect for the holidays. I picked this mini up in a set and know they sell its full size for $24. I haven’t picked up a full size since at the moment I’m still working through my minis. Although, not sure if I will pick up a full size, I adore the colors, but don’t like their strong cupcake vanilla scent. But either way, I can’t deny that the formula is quite comfortable on the lips and long lasting. This lips swatch was one swipe for full coverage and a second pass to clean up the lines (somewhat).

Next we have The Balm Meet Matt(e) Hughes – Adoring, also a bright red. This is the full size liquid lipstick which generally runs for $17. I adore these liquid lipsticks. The formula feels so light on my lips, I barely notice it. The scent is also so yummy, think thin mints! That chocolate minty smell is such a nice break from the over done tubs of vanilla frosting vanilla cupcake scent every other company seems to opt for.

Next is another The Balm Meet Matt(e) Hughes, this one is in Loyal. This shade and the one above are very similar, I will admit. I feel that Loyal leans a closer to a true red while Adoring has some stronger blue undertones to it. But I could be wrong, I sometimes really question my eye for undertones! lol

The Balm Meet Matt(e) Hughes – Devoted is quite noticeably different. This shade is more of a dark ox blood color and I love it. One swipe and its opaque with no patchiness in sight! Can you tell I’m a fan of The Balm liquid lipsticks?  I’ll be honest here, I own about 5 or 6 of the full sized tubes and a set of 6 minis. I picked most of them up during their legendary 50% off EVERYTHING sales, which brought these bad boys down to $8.50 a pop!

Lastly, we finally get to a non The Balm liquid lipstick. This is Milani Amore Matte Lip – Magnetic, a cranberry red with a pearl finish that is to die for! This is not part of their metallic line, but I find it kind of metallic. The formula is different from their creme matte liquid lipsticks, but its not terribly uncomfortable. For this shade I am more than willing to put up with it! For a holiday glam look, this has got to be my favorite! I picked this up from Walgreens for about $7 if I remember correctly.

Are you a liquid lipstick fan? Which of these shades did you like best? Forgive the sloppy swatches, I promise to do better next time! Especially if anyone ends up being interested in seeing some red traditional lipstick swatches.

Thanks so much for stopping by!

  1. I din’t know Stila’s has a vanilla cupcake scent, but I’m glad you mentioned that. I’m definitely not a fan of vanilla so I can’t wear that. I love red lips too, and love your picks!
